Background
This is ongoing research into capturing things we can see or hear and turning them into things we can hold. I’m looking for 2 things here, firstly, can the sound of a tree be recorded in a useful way and secondly, do different types of trees move in different ways.
I’m gathering up questions and thoughts which I’ll then work through with a tree expert.
Trees and sound
Do all trees sound the same? I heard branches squeak like chicks in a nest, clatter and rustle.
Does each type of tree have a different sound?
Does the sound of the tree change seasonally?
Do leaves make a difference?
Trees and movement
Do bigger leaved trees have stronger branches?
Do all tree branches have the same range of movement?
What (other than wind) affects the pattern the branches move in?
Are there repeating patterns?
